Meet the Founder

Marcia Shearer
Marcia Shearer founded My Girls’ Group in 2002 when her daughter was in 4th grade. The program developed naturally as her background, education and gifts collided with our culture’s negative influence on her young daughter. Being proactive by nature, Marcia wanted to arm her daughter and her friends with facts, information and reinforcement of the knowledge of who they are in Christ before the onslaught of middle school.
In 2009 after her daughter had successfully navigated a year and a half of high school, Marcia added MGG Moms to the program. She was finding that open lines of communication between parent and child at this age are rare and yet critical to healthy, safe decision making by high school students. It is much harder to fix poor communication with a 15 year old than it is to establish good communication with a 10 year old!
Marcia has been married over 23 years and also has a son 2 years older than her daughter doing equally as well. Her background includes a business degree, experience in classroom teaching, homeschooling, educational administration, small business and non-profit management, training and group facilitation, professional coach training, successful parenting in the trenches (just ask her for the details), and a strong Christian faith.
Her passion is to inspire families to benefit from more effective communication patterns with each other and their Creator. She is an active member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church and is proud to be associated with the following organizations.
